The Revenant displays the idea of man vs man and man vs wild, perfectly. Bearded, scarred, and emotionally broken, the actor becomes unrecognizable as he turns into a revenge-thirsty father. A heroic character played by the grandiose Leonardo DiCaprio, he won Best Actor in 2016 for this role. The Revenant is inspired by the eponymous novel by Michael Punke which tells the true story of the American trapper Hugh Glass who in 1823, was left for dead from bear wounds and yet managed to survive in the wilderness and reach the city of Fort Kiowa. Awarded at the Oscars in February 2015 for his film Birdman, the Mexican director, screenwriter and producer decided to direct yet another masterpiece, The Revenant, which earned him another Oscar for Best Director of this film.
